The “Tribute in Light” will return for one night as a tribute to all those who were lost on September 11th, In New York, loved ones milled around the memorial site, making rubbings of names, putting flowers by the names of victims and weeping, arm-in-arm.

At 8:46 a.m. EST, crowds gathered at the site of the Twin Towers in New York City observed a moment of silence marking when the first plane crashed in the city’s downtown, pipes and drums played at the memorial in New York after the moment of silence, before friends and family members of those who lost their lives read the names of the deceased. A stage honor guard was made up of members of the New York City fire department and police department as well as the Port Authority police department.
